Change into a school uniform or sailor suit and enroll in school. A day to experience Japanese culture
“The Japanese Countryside School Experience” is a service where foreign tourists can experience one of the hidden charms of Japanese culture, the good old days of “Showa era schools” at our abandoned school campsite, CAMPiece Kimitsu (in Kimitsu City, Chiba). In a rural Japanese town, set in the Showa era, you can enroll in school for a day, surrounded by natural and pastoral scenery. Actual “homeroom teachers” will conduct lessons in the classroom. Participants will wear school uniforms or sailor suits. Starting from the entrance ceremony, the day includes morning homeroom, being on duty for the day, calligraphy and history lessons, school lunch, sports festival, and finally, graduation with the awarding of diplomas. Participants will experience a simulated version of the “school life” that Japanese students have gone through. As an option, camping on the school grounds and staying at a hot spring inn are also available.
* The “homeroom teacher” will generally conduct the class in English.
